Starting therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming. If you’re thinking about starting, these are the first 3 steps that you can expect in working together.

When we talk about growth and change, we often do

When we talk about growth and change, we often do not immediately think about loss. However, a big part of stepping into something new is letting go of something previous.

Letting go can feel scary as it is unknown. Regardless of whether certain parts of you serve you, they are familiar to you. There are often no surprises. Change is the opposite. There is a a promise of the unknown. It may be that at first this change feels bad or uneasy. However, that does not mean that it is not a step in the right direction.

When going through growth, it is okay to feel sad, confused, or scared. This is all part of the process. It is okay to grieve a part of yourself that you may know needs to shift.

It’s important to distinguish the difference bet

It’s important to distinguish the difference between anger and rage. They are not the same. Anger is a natural response to a threat. Whereas, rage is an uncontrollable and often violent experience and behaviour. It is often when we do not allow ourselves feel our anger; our boundary, that we turn to rage.

Anger expressed in its pure form is not explosive. It is a call to action. This call is meant for your protection. Once, we change the narrative from, anger is not allowed, it is unhealthy, to anger is here to help me, there can be a real shift in how we feel and our experiences.

Being our true selves seems like a simple task, and yet it is one of the most daunting if we have not been given that opportunity as a child. An example can be rationality. Was rationality deemed as most important in the household? If so, maybe emotions feel impossible to present. Or maybe, they don’t feel important. How does that look like as an adult? Well, maybe instead of saying how you feel, you think your way through. The difficulty with that is thinking does not express our full experience. It also does not allow us to connect to ourselves and others at the deepest level.

We often want to get rid of loneliness. We want to distract ourselves from it. It can feel unbearable. We have become very good at stepping out of loneliness into a fast paced society that requires optimization and progress. There is no time for loneliness. We only feel it when we move away from the bustle of our everyday lives.

What if loneliness was actually a call from your inner self to connect with yourself? What if your inner world needed you to pay attention? What if I told you that we can only really connect with others, if we are connected with ourselves?

Our purpose in life is to become who we truly are.

Our purpose in life is to become who we truly are. This is a life long quest that as humans we are all on. Authenticity and self-expression are the cornerstones for how we achieve joy and wholeness.

Emotions are our guiding system. They tell us when

Emotions are our guiding system. They tell us when something is wrong, when we need connection, and when we need protection.

Our emotions are instinctual and yet it is not always so simple to feel our emotions.

This list is not exhaustive. There are many reasons for why it may be difficult to feel your emotions.

I invite you to reflect on which emotions you struggle to feel, or which ones you experience with ease.

Take a moment to reflect. Maybe its not one or the other. Maybe its somewhere in the middle.

In today’s world, many of us contort ourselves to fit in, to receive love, and validation. Its natural to want those things. Sometimes, it can come at the expense of who you really are and what you really need. We sometimes deny our inner truths as a way to ease the pain around disowning ourselves.

The inner self is always calling. It is patient and it is kind. It waits for all of us to listen.
